As Chief Engineer, you will have overall responsibility for all machinery onboard and lead the entire engine department, including the 1st Engineer who acts as your deputy. You will report directly to the Master and ensure efficient operations, maintenance, and cross-departmental collaboration.
- Leading and taking full responsibility for the engine department, including motivation and supervision of crew
- Daily operation and monitoring of machinery, including engines, propulsion systems, and power generation
- Planning and execution of maintenance activities
- Ensuring compliance with QHSE requirements, including safety, quality, and environmental standards
- Administration and reporting, including logbooks, handover reports, budgeting, and cost control
- Ensuring proper use and updating of maintenance and spare parts systems
- Ordering and controlling spare parts and bunkers, as well as maintaining overview of inventory and consumption
- Close cooperation with the Master and Chief Officer on operations, maintenance, and planning
- Valid Chief Engineer Unlimited (STCW) certificate
- Solid experience as Chief Engineer, preferably on seismic vessels
- Strong technical competence in engines, propulsion, and power systems
- Experience with PMS (Planned Maintenance Systems)
- Knowledge of class and flag state requirements, as well as international regulations
- Proven leadership experience within an engine department
- Strong focus on QHSE and safe operations
- Good command of English (working language is English); Norwegian is an advantage
